By Chief Keith Bliss
April 27, 2025

On Sunday April 27th at about 1422 hours the Liberty Fire Company along with mutual aid units were dispatched to the unit block of Riverside Drive for the commercial building fire.
Ladder 63 with the Chief responsible within 3 minutes of dispatch followed by Engine 63 1 minute later. The initial report was that the caller reported seeing smoke from inside the siding of a large 30 unit storage facility. As Ladder 63 arrived fire was visible through the roof. Engine 63 stopped at the hydrant located at the intersection of East Bridge Street and Riverside drive. Chief 63 requested the working fire dispatch followed very quickly with a second alarm. Ladder 63 arrived and deployed a Blitz Fire and prepared to go into master stream operations. Engine 63 laid 800’ of supply line to the scene. Royersford’s Engine 98 arrived and established a hydrant connection. LFC along with mutual aid from several surrounding departments worked aggressively and were able to stop the fire spread despite the windy conditions. Crews operated for over 5 hours bringing the fire under control and extinguishing any hot spots.

In addition to our mutual aid partners, the Liberty Fire Company would also like to thank the following municipality and local businesses for their assistance.

Wilke’s Pizza (Provided pizza for the crews)
Latin Corner (Provided additional water for crews)
Borough of Phoenixville (provided a backhoe for overhauling)
Paoli Fire Company (Proved coverage for the area)
