Yesterday evening at 1851 hours the LFC along with our mutual aid partners were dispatched to the 800 Block of Pecan Road in the Borough of Spring City for a rear patio fire. In less than 3 minutes after the dispatch the LFC arrived on location and found heavy fire to the rear of the home with obvious extension into the roof area. While responding from the station a large column of smoke was visible and Chief 63 requested the WFD. As crews from Engine 63 deployed (2) 1-3/4" attack lines a propane cylinder on the rear deck began to flare off. While crews quickly knocked down the exterior fire, a second crew began to make an interior attack. Ladder 98 (Royersford) arrived and began placing ground ladders. Crews from Rescue 63 arrived and supplemented the crew from Engine 63 and also helped to hand drag a supply line to the nearest hydrant. Rescue 65 (Phoenixville) arrived and assisted with interior operations. Engine 65 arrived and assisted Ladder 98 with ventilating the roof. Crews From Squad 51 and Tower 51 (Limerick) arrived and assisted with placing more ladders, checking the exposure unit, and overhauling a section of the exterior.
The fire was placed under control at 1928. The LFc operated on location until 2158 hours.
